On Thursday, November 20th, boys intramural basketball will begin. Basketball will be once a week, from 3:35 to 5:00. There is no cost for this activity. This program will be an instructional program, combined with dividing up into teams and playing games. 4th grade boys will be recommended by their classroom teacher and approved by Mr. Horn. Permission slip needs to be signed and returned to school as soon as possible. Any questions, please contact Mr. Horn @ 532-2921. We look forward to this new initiative at Sunny Heights!
An entry system has been implemented here at Sunny Heights. These changes will ensure a safe environment for our children, staff and community. Our visiting procedures will be as follows (you may find these in the Student Handbook also):
1. Upon entering the first set of doors, press the call button
2. Office staff will greet you through the intercom system
3. Please state your name, child’s name and nature of visit
4. If you have an appointment or conference, an administrator will escort you to the classroom.
Does your child wish they could wear jeans to school every once in a while? Well, here’s their chance! If you join the Sunny Heights PTA for only $6.00, your child will earn jean days throughout the school year.
Here is how it will work. You will complete a membership form and submit it with the dues of $6.00. Then on designated days, your child(ren) will be able to wear jeans to school. You may pay with cash or a check. Please make checks payable to Sunny Heights PTA.
On jeans day, the expectations are that the students still wear a collared shirt that is tucked in (uniformly dressed). Jeans must be appropriate, for examples, no holes and no sagging.
If you are already a member or are just now signing up, your child will be able to wear jeans on Friday, October 31. By signing up, your child will earn a jeans day every month! The following dates are future student jeans days: November 7, December 19, January 30, February 27, March 13, and April 24.
The membership form can be found in the October 24th edition of Sunny Heighlights>>>
In preparation for the 4th Grades Veterans Day Program, army veteran William Williams and Army Reserve Curtis Auterson shared their experiences of being in the army. They both explained to the students how important it is to work hard and be the best they can be in order to be successful in life. We would love everyone to join us for our Veterans Day concert at Sunny Heights on Veterans Day, Nov. 11th @7:00 p.m. The concert is covering Music Standard 4.9.1: Explore & perform music associated with historical periods and events. The speakers helped them to understand this more fully.
